Lewis Center’s Shea Berridge wins Connells Maple Lee birthday card design contest

Shea’s design will adorn the birthday card that all members receive in the coming year. The third-grader “just loves to be creative and outgoing,” her mother said.

In the year ahead, members of the Connells Maple Lee Flowers & Gifts Kids Club will celebrate a “hoppy” birthday courtesy of Shea Berridge.

Shea, who is turning 9 and entering third grade, is the winner of this year’s kids club birthday card design contest.

Her design features a bunny wearing a flower tiera and will adorn the electronic card that kids club members receive in the coming year. Her prize is a free flower delivery.

She is the daughter of Shawn and Christi Berridge, who live in Lewis Center with Shea and her older brother.

“She just loves to be creative and outgoing,” Christi said about Shea, who is active in dance, cheer and the Girl Scouts.

The kids club is free for children ages 5 to 12. Parents may register their children at any Connells Maple Lee store or at cmlflowers.com/kidsclub. Kids club benefits also include a membership card, online activities and a quarterly e-mail newsletter.

Dublin fifth-grader is this year’s kids club birthday card contest winner

Maya Ibrahim returned home one night this month bearing an abstract painting on canvas that she had created at a friend’s house.
“We’re waiting for that to dry, and we’ll hang it up,” said her mother, Deanna.
It’s not Maya’s only work of distinction this summer, however.
Maya, a fifth-grader at Riverside Elementary School in Dublin, is the winner of this year’s Connells Maple Lee birthday card contest.
Her design, featuring presents, stars, party hats and a hand-lettered “Happy Birthday!,” will adorn the electronic card that kids club members receive on their birthdays in the coming year. Her prize is a free flower delivery on her next birthday.
The kids club is free to ages 5 to 12. With parental permission, children may register for the kids club at any Connells Maple Lee store or online at cmlflowers.com/kidsclub. Membership benefits include a membership card, website activities, an e-mail newsletter, contests and in-store events.

SNAPSHOT FROM OUR JUNE 16 CONNELLS KIDS CLUB EVENT; SEE YOU AGAIN ON AUG. 25

A big thanks to everyone who joined us for the June 16 Connells Maple Lee Kids Club event.
Not only was it a fun time, but it also helped us kick off our annual food drive, Connells Maple Lee Stems Hunger, which runs through June 30.
We wish you a happy, safe summer and look forward to getting the gang back together for two more events this year: Aug. 25, when the theme will be fall, and Nov. 10, when we focus on our Bouquets for Books children’s book drive and our Holidays for Heroes card and coloring page drive for active and retired military members.
Meanwhile, if you haven’t officially joined the kids club, or if you have a friend or family member who might be interested, please click here for complete details.

Photos from another egg-cellent kids club event

Things really got hopping at our March 14 Connells Maple Lee Kids Club event, as evidenced by these photos from our Powell store.
We had a great turnout as the kids made carnation Easter bunnies.
We certainly had a terrific time, and we look forward to more fun down the bunny trail as we have three more kids club events this year:

  • June 20: Help us kick off our annual food drive, “Connells Maple Lee Stems Hunger,” and enter our kids club birthday card design contest.
  • Aug. 22: Summer vacation is coming to an end, so we’re going to help ease you back to school.
  • Oct. 31: It’s Halloween, so be sure to wear your costume as we celebrate the holiday and kick off our annual “Bouquets for Books” children’s book drive to benefit area public libraries.

We’ll share more details closer to each event, of course.
In the meantime, we wish you and your family a Happy Easter!

  • Irish eyes smile at St. Patrick’s Day kids club event

A tip o’ the cap to everyone who joined us on March 15 for our St. Patrick’s Day-themed Connells Maple Lee Kids Club event.
Each child who participated had an opportunity to decorate a white carnation by giving it a smiling face. They carnations were dropped in bud vases filled with water that was dyed green to mark the holiday. Eventually, the dye will work its way up the stem to change the color of the flower.
There’s even more fun planned as the kids club has three more events in 2014. The dates and themes:
June 21: Stems Hunger food drive
    Aug. 23: Back to school
Nov. 1: Bouquets for Books book drive
