Connells Maple Lee Flowers & Gifts’ annual birthday card design contest, which is open to children ages 5 to 12, runs through June 30.
The winning design will adorn the Connells Maple Lee Kids Club birthday card, which is emailed to all kids club members on their birthdays. The winning artist will receive free flowers on his or her birthday.
Entry forms are available at all Connells Maple Lee stores or can be downloaded here.
To be eligible, entries must be dropped off at a Connells Maple Lee store by June 30: 3014 E. Broad St., Bexley; 2033 Stringtown Road, Grove City; or 8573 Owenfield Drive, Powell.

Bunny Face, I love you. Bunny Face, I need you.
If you’re between the ages of 5 and 12, you can make your own Bunny Face to bring home for Easter.
The Connells Maple Lee Kids Club will play host to a free kids club event March 25 in all stores. Besides making a carnation bunny, participants will receive a balloon.
Time slots are available at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Introducing the Connells Maple Lee Kids Club schedule for the rest of 2017
One Connells Maple Lee Kids Club event is in the books, but four more are to come this year.
Kids club events are free to children ages 5 to 12. We typically have sessions at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Here’s the rest of the 2017 schedule with each event’s theme:
March 25: Easter (see photo)
June 17: Stems Hunger food drive (nonperishable food donation requested)
Sept. 9: Grandparents Day
Nov. 11: Bouquets for Books (new children’s book donation requested)

Connells Maple Lee Kids Club puts heart into new year with free Valentine’s Day event Jan. 21
We’re kicking off the 2017 Connells Maple Lee Kids Club schedule with a free event on Jan. 21 in all stores.
Children ages 5 to 12 will have an opportunity to make a special “Be Mine, Valentine!” arrangement, featuring a teacup with a heart on it and a red wire stick-in heart. Participants also will receive a free balloon.
Time slots are available at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

It’s boos and bouquets at Oct. 29 kids club event
The Connells Maple Lee Kids Club is conjuring a Halloween-themed activity for its Oct. 29 event in all stores.
Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to make a special “Boo” bouquet and will receive a balloon.
They are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes, too.
Participants are asked to donate a new children’s book as the price of admission in support of our annual book drive — Bouquets for Books — to benefit Bexley Public Library and Delaware County District Library.

It’s a ‘Celebration of Summer’ at Aug. 20 kids club event
The Connells Maple Lee Kids Club is drinking in the season with its free “Celebration of Summer” event on Aug. 20.
Children ages 5 to 12 will have an opportunity to create an arrangement in a party cup and adorn it with a pinwheel stick-in.
Participants also will receive a free balloon.
Time slots are available at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

First-grader Caden Shen wins 2016 kids club birthday card contest
Caden Shen, 7, likes dinosaurs, playing soccer, and walking on a nature trail.
“And he likes to draw a lot,” said his mother, Wen.
In fact, he’s now an award-winning artist. His drawing of flowers is the winning entry in the 2016 edition of Connells Maple Lee Kids Club birthday card design contest.
His design will be featured on the electronic card that Connells Maple Lee Kids Club members will receive on their birthdays in the coming year. Caden’s prize is a free flower delivery on his next birthday.
Caden lives in Westerville with his mother and father, Jon Shen. He will be a first-grader at Annehurst Elementary School.

They are asked to donate a non-perishable food item as the price of admission and to bring an empty food can in which to make an arrangement for themselves.
