The event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. April 23 at Aladdin Shrine Center, 1801 Gateway Circle, Grove City.
Connells Maple Lee will be among the vendors, showing a variety of bouquets for brides and attendants and table arrangements highlighting popular colors and trends for this year.
The Bridal Spectacular will feature wedding vendors and health and beauty experts from Columbus and the surrounding area.
Other offerings will include in-home job opportunities, food tasting, product demonstrations. More than 35 door prizes include a free outdoor ceremony package ($500 value) from Aladdin Shrine, complete with setup and an extra hour and a half of event time, and a grand prize of a free night’s stay for two at Candlewood Suites in Columbus.
Guests also may register to win a four-night/five-day honeymoon package, including roundtrip airfare to Blue Diamond Rivera Maya Resort.

Join us for an Easter-themed design class April 1 in Grove City
No fooling, we’re offering an Easter-themed design class on April 1.
Jill Elmore, our award-winning design manager, will teach the class, which will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in our central design department, 2035 Stringtown Road, Grove City. The building is behind our Grove City store.
The price of $50 plus tax includes all materials necessary to make a fresh spring arrangement featuring tulips, lilies, carnations and daisies with accents of silk forsythia.
The arrangement is in a separate dish sitting on a bubble bowl. (Please note that the color or style of the bunny shown in the accompanying photos may change based on availability.)
Jill will offer ideas for other items that can be placed inside the bubble bowl and other centerpiece ideas for Easter tables.

Terrariums back on the job — and perfect for the office
Entire TV shows these days are dedicated to tiny houses, so perhaps it should come as little surprise that mini-gardens are popular again.
Connells Maple Lee recently reintroduced terrariums to its product lineup. They are individually crafted and come in rope; dome (small, medium and large); and greenhouse versions.
Growing plants in transparent containers dates to Greece at least 2,500 years ago, according to University of Missouri Extension. The practice in the United States is traced to New England.
“The invention of the terrarium as we know it is credited to Dr. N.B. Ward, a 19th-century London physician. … While studying a sphinx moth emerging from a chrysalis he had buried in moist earth in a closed bottle, he was amazed to see a seedling fern and some grass growing inside. He watched them grow for four years, during which time not one drop of water was added nor was the cover removed.”
Closed terrariums are best at keeping humidity inside (followed by open terrariums and dish gardens), so they only have to be watered once per week. Terrariums and plants are great for offices as they are known to improve air quality, boost productivity and reduce stress.

If you’re between the ages of 5 and 12, you can make your own Bunny Face to bring home for Easter.
The Connells Maple Lee Kids Club will play host to a free kids club event March 25 in all stores. Besides making a carnation bunny, participants will receive a balloon.
Time slots are available at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Connells Maple Lee presents Red Cross with holiday cards, coloring pages for active military and veterans
Connells Maple Lee has presented approximately 100 holiday cards and coloring pages for active military and veterans to the American Red Cross as part of the latter’s “Holidays for Heroes” program.
From Nov. 11-23, Connells Maple Lee invited the public to donate the items, which are destined for military installations, VFWs, American Legions, VA hospitals and retirement homes in 45 counties in the Red Cross’ Ohio Buckeye Region.
The Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Anyone who donated a new children’s book was eligible to receive a free bouquet.
The book drive will return Oct. 28-Nov. 11, 2017.

Connells Maple Lee will collect cards and coloring pages for active military and veterans in each of our stores Nov. 11-23 as part of the American Red Cross’ “Holidays for Heroes” program (formerly Holiday Mail for Heroes).
Collected cards and coloring pages will be handed over to the Red Cross, whose volunteers will organize them for delivery.
Cards may be dropped off at any one of our stores during normal business hours. Coloring pages are available at the stores or can be downloaded here:

The Red Cross offers these guidelines for preparing cards:
• Use generic salutations such as “Dear Service Member” as cards addressed to specific individuals cannot be delivered through this program.
• Include messages of support and thanks.
• Sign your name to them.
• Don’t include letters or other personal information (photos, addresses).
• Refrain from choosing cards with glitter.

It’s boos and bouquets at Oct. 29 kids club event
The Connells Maple Lee Kids Club is conjuring a Halloween-themed activity for its Oct. 29 event in all stores.
Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to make a special “Boo” bouquet and will receive a balloon.
They are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes, too.
Participants are asked to donate a new children’s book as the price of admission in support of our annual book drive — Bouquets for Books — to benefit Bexley Public Library and Delaware County District Library.

Connells Maple Lee donates $790 to Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research
Connells Maple Lee has donated $790 to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James).
With every sale of our “Power of Pink” arrangement, Connells Maple Lee donates $10 to breast cancer organizations. The arrangement is available year-round.
The Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research supports breast cancer research, including genetics, as well as technology needs for research, patient care, medical education and training on breast cancer at the OSUCCC – James.

We’re moving to Bexley Centre in August
We’re relocating our Bexley store in August to the Bexley Centre shopping center.
The move to 3014 E. Broad St., next to Block’s Bagels, should be completed in time for an Aug. 1 opening. Connells Maple Lee, which has operated a Bexley store for decades, has been at 2408 E. Main St., Bexley, for the past 10 years.
Andrew Royer, regional manager for family-owned Connells Maple Lee, said the new space comprises 3,000 square feet.
“It’s a smaller space than we’ve had, which is going to make us more efficient,” he said. “Our lease was up on East Main Street, which is why we started looking at our options. We’re excited to be a part of Bexley Centre.”
The store’s phone number will remain 614-237-8653. Its hours of operation will stay the same: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
